UK Weather: Hurricane Gert threatens Bank holiday washout despite 27C making Britain hotter than Malibu beach tomorrow
Bank holiday weekend is set to be a washout in parts thanks to the after-effects of Hurricane Gert - despite balmy temperatures forecast throughout the week.
Bringing masses of warm air tomorrow, temperatures are set to soar to 27C in the south thanks to the Caribbean weather front.
But while Tuesday will mark the hottest August day so far, with temperatures hotter than Malibu Beach, in California, northern England and Scotland will see chillier conditions, with plenty of rainfall.
So far, August has peaked at just 25.4C, recorded on August 17 at Cavendish, Suffolk.
Hurricane Gert has already brought an average half a month's rainfall for northern parts.
But while most of us will enjoy some more summer-suited conditions throughout the week, temperatures are set to cool-off and showers set in as we head into bank holiday weekend.
But the Met Office forecast “warm or very warm” sunny spells from next week until mid-September in the South will boost the end of the school holidays.
